The Specific Risk With Offshore Sportsbooks
Licensed US sportsbooks are required to offer deposit limits, time-outs and a self-exclusion register that other licensed operators must honor. Offshore sportsbooks are not required to offer any of that, and most of the ones on this site offer little or none of it. If you self-exclude from a regulated sportsbook, an offshore sportsbook will not know and will not care.
That is worth saying plainly on a site that compares offshore sportsbooks: the same absence of a regulator that makes these sportsbooks willing to take your bet is the absence that leaves you without the tools. If you rely on self-exclusion to stay safe, offshore is the wrong place for you, and no comparison table changes that.
Practical Steps That Do Not Depend on the Sportsbook
- Set a deposit limit at your bank or card, not at the sportsbook. A limit the operator controls is a limit the operator can lift.
- Use blocking software that covers gambling sites at the device or network level. GamBan and Gamblock work independently of any operator.
- Register with the self-exclusion scheme in your state. It will not bind an offshore sportsbook, but it removes the regulated ones from reach.
- Never deposit money you would need back. With no regulator, a withheld balance has no appeal route — that is the whole subject of this site.
